Once again there is a video that sums up my summer out here in Truckee! I hope you lovely dudes and girls enjoy it!
Well okay, maybe this video is a bit absurd and far off from what has actually been happening out here in California, but I assure you that things have been super! I began summer with my commencement counterbro and student marshall, R. Eliot Neal, as I was a chosen one for head usher (and yes our titles were as illustrious as they sound). All things considered we crushed it with a smooth ceremony after a drizzly senior week and then it was time for summer to actually launch. I was only home for a short while, however I took full advantage of some family fun included viewing of my sibling’s baseball and softball games, bountiful loads of free graduation party food and cake, and an intense golf tournament with my father and his coworkers to cap off my time at home (I won’t mention what place we got, mainly because they forgot to give us a trophy and a big fancy check like they do in the hit movie Happy Gilmore).
By mid June it was time to hit the dusty trail with my mother! We traveled across the country over a 3 day period in which we conquered a road that was at an elevation of 12,000 ft. We kicked it in a cottage on Donner Lake for a week before I had to say my goodbyes and settle in with my host family. The couple that I have been staying with has been wonderful; we have shared many laughs, gone on a few hikes (including one to a deserted ghost town that was a booming mining town during the gold rush), and watch day time game shows regularly (I have the whole schedule memorized and have become a huge fan of jeopardy, wheel of fortune, and who wants to be a millionaire).
The crew that I have been training with is awesome! We have lots of fun, all the time! We spend a fair amount of time relaxing on Donner Lake, including an inpromptu camp session on a dock one beautiful starry night! So far I have had my first In N Out experience – 4×4 animal style for life! During the 4th of july there was a race in town in which I purchased a child’s size large uncle Sam suit that I wore, eventually landing a spot on the front of the local news paper! Truckee has so many things going on each night from live music in this sweet park on Wednesdays, to farmers markets on Tuesdays and weekly street extravaganzas on Thursdays!
I suppose I should get to the real reason I am out here…TO GET BRONZE! I mean JACKED! The training out here is phenomenal. Never has it been so easy to be motivated to train (walking up the stairs for breakfast is basically L3). But actually it is high up here, which means there are MOUNTAINS!! There is certainly no shortage of mountains and trails to train on. I am thrilled at how well training has been going and how excited I am to get back to training and racing with you fellas!
Looking forward to seeing your lovely faces back at school! Until next time, or the next snapchat!
