Happenings this spring

A lot has happened since we turned off the power to the old website and rebuilt it from the bottom up. We are excited to provide a new and fresh format and to continue our outreach to our massive fan base.

April was a month of recruit visits, end of season athlete meetings (yes we meet with every athlete to review their year), program evaluation, finalizing our new incoming class and some fun events like senior dinner and the end of the year banquet.

Our end of season review was productive and the input from athletes is valuable to assess what works, what doesn’t and what we can do better. Abby and I have a good system of review and it is super thorough. In general the response on the season from the athletes was really positive. Another good year in the books and progress made towards providing many more.

Our recruiting class is almost totally finalized. I am waiting on one athlete before we post our new class officially. But it was a good year with a good number of girls and a few guys. (stay tuned for a post on our new first years)

Senior dinner at the Bartlett’s was super fun. Wild turkey, wild venison, artichokes and a fabulous chicken entre was on the menu. We will miss our seniors.

End of the year banquet at Flatbread was also a great event.
We awarded Nick Bailey with the Bubba Kenney Award and Tasha received the Randi Stromstad award.
Team MVP (most points earned in carnivals) went to Rob Cone.(more on this speedster in a future post)

May was a month of details and completion. Seniors pounded out their last few exams and under classman got a taste of spring term finals and the stress that comes with that. All of the seniors made it through the year and Tasha was awarded the Mike Wilson Trophy at the senior athletic awards ceremony. The team also provided some community service support to the New Haven River Anglers Association with a tree planting day and a river clean up on Green Up Day. The team planted close to 200 trees on a tributary of the New Haven River and collected a HUGE amount of trash along the banks of the river.

As the hot days of summer are now here in June, we are finally done with web revamping and can get back to providing some Midd Skiing blog material.

Best wishes for a good summer

Stever
